Rebecca All Over the World
Why live in 1 country when you can live in 6? Why have one memorial when you can have several?
That flawed but inarguable logic is exactly why we are going to celebrate Becks in style and class, in all the places she loved. Her family and friends far and wide, all want to pay homage to the fearless life she led, and the impact she had on their lives. I will be updating this section with information when I have it.
In Rebecca’s words:
If someone wants to have a ceremony its not to be a funeral, it’s to be a memorial party, a celebration of my life and the life that we all have been lucky enough to live. There needs to be music and singing and dancing until the wee hours, drinks are to be drunk and memories to be had.

Bangkok, Thailand – The Rebecca Dowling Impact Award
I’ve struggled to put into words how much of an honor this is for Rebecca’s memory, and for myself as her teammate and sister. Rebecca would be amazed and humbled by the recognition. She had so much respect for the team: the professional and loving way it was run, the sportsmanship and openness of the players, and the fun and belonging we felt during practices and games.
Being the daughters of a celebrated player for Celbridge GAA and Dublin Minors, we grew up around the community, the athletes and our Dad’s many, many trophies. It was an unprecedented treat to come to the sport in my 30s, and have my little sister on my team. We did win a trophy or 2 with our beloved Thai GAA Junior side, giving the Dowling GAA new life in Asia.
But this award, which will live on in her name, is so special. I am looking forward to meeting Con one day, by all accounts he and Becks would have been great mates!
Thank you John Ger Niall for recognizing that a team is made from so much more than great skill – it takes great love and commitment as well. I am so lucky to have you all in my life.
